Tank Overhaul is a place where hobbyists get together to share their knowledge of technology to put some of the amazing tanks of our time back together again. You can watch both a German and an American tank go from parts to their stunning glory again as they are reconstructed. They are currently working on putting a Panther tank back together again. It was actually found at the bottom of a river in Poland and it won't be easy for these professionals to put it back together again. By reconstructing the tank, they are able to take a glimpse into history and better understand the events of WWI.
The Jagdpanther or Hunting Panther was a Nazi tank destroyer made by the Germans and used during the later stages of World War II in 1944. The Jagdpanther saw battle in both the Western and Eastern fronts. This tank was based on the Panther tank chassis, and combined with the Tiger II PaK 43 cannon (8.8 cm) it was a formidable fighting machine. The suspension and armor of the Panther tank nevertheless suffered because of Germany's sorry state in the latter part of the war. There was a shortage of parts, poorly trained crew and dwindling production.
Chiefly the Pershing tank was used by the U.S. Military during the Second World War. It was originally developed and considered as heavy tank T26 but after the war this was reclassified as medium, M26. The tank was named after General John J. Pershing who was the commander of the American Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War I. The Pershing was also used in the last stage of World War I and in Korean War. The M26 Pershing tank was the evolution of M4 Sherman. It was rarely seen in fighting scene but the most remarkable fight was in the Bridge at Remagen when it was used by the 9th Armored Division. In its strategic aspects in combating and fighting compared with M4 Sherman it was good defense weapon against the enemies against both the Tiger II and panther tanks. Even though, the M26 Pershing tank was not mechanically consistent and strong, it was superior match with T-34-85. It was obvious when it was pulled out in 1951 during the Korean War and replaced with more developed and upgraded container M46 Patton which has more powerful and reliable engine that can climb on mountainous terrain and move speedily on rocky roads. The innovation and improvement of M26 was continued with the M47 Patton followed by new design M48 Patton and M60 Combat Tank.
Check out how you can make a brand new tank model looking like a battle driven vehicle. This guy is amazing how he makes the tank looks totally real. His pro tutorial can be applied to any tank model and he only uses water based colors. The WW2 prototype of the Panther II tank came about when Hitler needed more armor on tanks as he thought the original Panther was not tough enough.
The Hunting Panther or Jagdpanther from Germany was designed based on the Panther tank chassis. It was first used in 1944 by the Germans on both European Eastern & Western fronts of WWII. Military historians exalt this tank as one of, if not the best, destroyers of its time. This distinction is largely due to the outstanding suspension of the Panther, the high performance armor, and the highly effective KwK 43 cannon (8.8 cm).
